BRACO WESTÂ ENERGY STORAGE PROJECT
PROJECT INFORMATION
The proposed Braco West Energy Storage Project is the development of a second energy storage facility on Feddal Hill.

The project is being proposed as the existing substation has the capacity to accommodate the additional electrical import and export requirements for a further energy storage project. We believe that this second phase will utilise the available capacity at the substation and therefore we do not anticipate any further developments beyond these two.
​
It is proposed that the Braco West project would closely resemble the Feddal Hill project and would similarly comprise up to fifty battery storage units housed within steel containers along with ancillary structures. It is envisaged that the battery units would be based on 40ft steel sea containers.
​
The proposed energy storage facility would provide rapid-response electrical back-up to the National Grid and would represent an early deployment within the UK of a high-tech grid balancing facility, of a type which is already seeing significant deployment in the USA and other parts of the world.
​
The site would be screened with acoustic fencing and ​landscaping to provide screening of the project.
​
A consultation event will be held on the Thursday 17th February 2022. Please find further details below.

LOCATION
​
The project is located on an area of cleared commercial forestry to the north of the existing Braco West substation on Feddal Hill.
​
Access to the site will be from the A9 onto the B8033, then along the existing track to Feddal Hill.
CONSULTATION EVENT
An online presentation using the ‘Zoom’ application is being held for the purposes of
community consultation in relation to the above development proposal.
